bio

Vanna Paabor (b. 1988) is an Edinburgh-based multidisciplinary artist and designer.

Originally from Stockholm, Sweden, she was immersed in a creative environment that deeply influenced her artistic path. In 2006, she moved to London, where she spent a decade broadening her perspective, with a year in Melbourne, Australia (2014–2015), where she began exploring textile printing. After relocating to Edinburgh in 2018, she completed a Master of Fine Art at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 2020.

Vanna’s practice is rooted in textile and clothing-based artistry, spanning individual pieces to custom-made collections. Her passion for drawing and painting is often integrated into her work, in particular figurative illustration. A fascination with new materials and shapes has over time evolved into exploration of sculptural costume, challenging traditional conventions of dress and design. While she enjoys experimenting with unconventional materials she maintains a strong appreciation for the inherent beauty and sustainability of natural materials.

Her work has been recognised in platforms such as the Batsford Prize (shortlisted), Jackson’s Art Prize (extended Longlist 2025) and featured in the Business of Fashion’s curation at the Nationwide Degree Show (2020). Additionally, she was selected for Fife Contemporary’s New Makers online exhibition, Materialise 4.

Vanna has collaborated with both individuals and larger organisations. Her previous clients include The Fishmongers’ Company in London and the School of Health in Social Science at Edinburgh University.
